ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
From Jim Allen: "The 1976 Scout Spirit of '76 was a limited edition special Scout promotional model that commemorated the nation's Bicentennial. It was an offshoot of special models developed late in 1975 for the U.S. 1976 Olympic Ski Team and supplied by International. The base Scout was a 100 inch wheelbase Scout II in Winter White, with a Deluxe interior in Wedgewood Blue and the Traveltop hardtop deleted. The Spirit of '76 package consisted of the blue and red Spirit appliqué on the body sides, 10-15 Goodyear Tracker tires on 7-inch chrome Rallye wheels, a roll bar (painted blue to match the interior), Sport steering wheel and a Denim-like soft top. Any engine and transmission combination was available, though most of the 369 Spirits produced for the 1976 model year were powered by V8s. The purchaser could select either bucket seats (with or without a center console) or a bench seat. This image was presented in January of 1976 in the first press announcement and given actual production didn't start until March, this is very likely the prototype model."
