Man and Woman in Field
In her journal from Ceylon Carrie records: "Both men and women wear a sort of skirt made of a straight piece of cloth wound around the body." Here, a man is holding a large wooden pole over a stone block. The woman appears to be placing something on the block. This was a method of breaking open nuts, pits, and seeds. |
