North Central Airplane

A North Central Convair airplane on the ground at Austin Straubel Airport. Green Bay was an important "mini-hub" for North Central, formerly Wisconsin Central, through the 1970s. In 1952 the Air Force reclaimed hangar at Truax Field. Wisconsin Central Airlines was forced to move its headquarters to Minneapolis, at the same time changing its name to North Central Airlines. |

From Scott Piepenburg 7/25/06: "The aircraft is identified as a DC-3 but is actually a Convair-440. A DC-3 did not use a tri-cycle landing gear and North Central didn't fly the Convair 340." |
