Warner and his Factory

Arthur Pratt Warner, Wisconsin's first aviator, in front of the office of the Warner Instrument Company in Beloit. Warner, who held the patent for an automobile speedometer, was similar to many early aviation enthusiasts in that he loved machines and automobiles. Warner became acquainted with the Aerial Experiment Association which included Alexander Graham Bell and Glenn Curtiss, through aviation inventor August Herring whose shop was across the street from Warner's New York City branch. The plane that Warner purchased for $6000 in 1909 was the third built airplane by Curtiss. |
