Car Train Crash
Daniel Coffey, an Ohio Chemical Company employee, suffered internal head and chest injuries and a fractured right leg when his 1957 Chevrolet was demolished by a North Western freight train at the Dempsey Road crossing on Madison's east side. The crossing only has a stationary cross-bar sign. Engineer Ronald Caves and Conductor Evan Lewis, crew members of the 49 car, two engine freight headed for Milwaukee told police that the train whistle was blowing when the accident occurred. |
