Gov. Wallace Given Good Reception Here
Three people of the 18 protestors outside of the Cuba Club restaurant. A large protest sign states, "Wallace: Blood is on your hands." The protestors were members of the Madison chapter of the Congress on Racial Equality (CORE). Inside, the Madison Exchange club's invited speaker, Alabama governor George Wallace to give a speech at the Cuba Club restaurant for 180 of their members. Wallace and his contention that the pending civil rights bill will "destroy the constitutional rights of everybody" were met with applause. |
