Flying Bananas
Image
A U.S. Army Piasecki CH21-C helicopter operating at a newly cut drop zone strip near the Laotian border to resupply Vietnamese troops. Because of the two rotors and the curved body designed to ensure that the rotor blades did not hit each other, these helicopters were known as "Flying Bananas." This photograph was taken by Dickey Chapelle, a freelance photographer from Milwaukee.
