Local Fire Departments Receive DNR Grant
Group portrait with accompanying caption: "Pictured from left to right are recently retired Rock Springs Fire Department chief James "Bink" Mooney, 50th Assembly District Representative Sheryl Albers, newly elected Rock Springs Fire Department chief Mark Weihing and DNR Spring Green Forest Ranger Blair Anderson. At the recent Sauk County Fire Chief's Association meeting, Anderson presented a check to Rock Springs from the state funded Forest Fire Protection Grant program. The program is designed to help local fire departments become better equipped to suppress forest fires by providing 50% cost sharing for the purchase of various pieces of equipment. Rock Springs received $7,145 for the purchase of communications equipment, a pump for their brush truck, personal protective equipment (Nomex suits, hardhats and gloves) and some fire fighting tools, some of which appear in the photo. Over the past three years, local fire departments have received over $100,000 through the program." |
