University of Wisconsin YMCA
View from Langdon Street of the University of Wisconsin YMCA on the shore of Lake Mendota. On the porch of the building is a large "Cafeteria" sign. Another sign posted near the sidewalk reads: "Eat Here." The Memorial Union, in the Italian Renaissance Revival style, was built on west of this site in 1926. On the right of the YMCA is a lawn and sidewalks, and a parking area along the side of the Armory or Red Gym. The YMCA was razed in 1956, and today part of the addition to the Memorial Union and the Memorial Union parking lot occupy the footprint of the YMCA. |
