Drawing
Opening Day Fishing Season - The Angler

Imaginative pen-and-ink drawing of a fly fisherman in waders hooking a large fish while standing in a stream. Unseen, the fish is creating a large splash. The trunks and roots of large trees stand along the riverbank behind the fisherman, and a bull is standing prominently in profile above the fisherman behind the trees. In the far distance are hills. The left margin of the image depicts eight different kinds of fly fishing flies. Sid's authorship "S" is in the lower right corner. This drawing appeared in the Wisconsin State Journal on May 12,1966 with the caption, "The Angler Studies Stream Ecology, His Creel is Always Full, When a Lunker Steals His Favorite Fly, The Witness May Be Only a Bull." |
