Drawing
Opening Day Fishing Season

Imaginative pen-and-ink drawing that appeared in the Wisconsin State Journal on May 1, 1976 with Sid's caption: "The Atwood-Ave Clean Fresh Water Anglers are holding their annual recital on Opening Day, thanks to Doc Fosmark, Jim Karabis, Ralph Farrington and Walt Kleeman. How sweet it is! The Bait Bucket Bongo, the Fish Net Sonata, the Spinning Rod Minuet and the Beer Bottle Rhapsody. It's Opening Day for Fishing!" Sid's authorship is in the lower right corner. |

Sid Boyum annually created an "Opening Day" drawing to promote the first day of the general fishing season, published from 1963 to 1989 in the Capital Times and the Wisconsin State Journal. In exchange, Sid would receive copies of the print to distribute on his own. And reproduction of this drawing exists as a 35 mm transparency, see PH 6986 Box 13 .008. |
