Map or Atlas
Hémisphère Occidental ou du Nouveau Monde: Publié Sous les Auspices de Monseigneur Louis Philippe, Duc d'Orléans, Premier Prince du Sang
This map is an updated version of d'Anville's 1761 map of the western hemisphere. He included more details to the north west coast of North America, particularly the inclusion of the Aleutian islands. The known borders of Russia, North America, and South America are hand-painted. Save for this the map is bare of decoration, an austere style typical of d'Anville. |
