Opening Day Fishing Season (Unpublished)

Opening Day Fishing Season (Unpublished) | Drawing | Wisconsin Historical Society
Imaginative pen-and-ink drawing that collages several scenes: a cigar-smoking fisherman holding a broken rod; a young Nancy Ryan with one leg propped on a lawn mower pulling the rest of the broken rod, which has its line winding up through tree branches to hook Ted Ryan on the rear, lifting him off his feet; a man with a fish on the line in a boat with a woman eyeing flying ducks with the net; singing fish and guitar-playing frogs; Whistler's Mother with a fishbowl on her lap, looking at fish portrait on the wall; a fisherman offering a seaweed martini to a mermaid; and, a man admiring a cat-faced fish. Sid's authorship is in the lower left corner.
