Map or Atlas
A Chart of Delaware Bay and River: Containing a Full & Exact Description of the Shores, Creeks, Harbours, Soundings, Shoals, Sands, and Bearings of the Most Considerable Land Marks, from the Capes to Philadelphia

Map of the Delaware Bay, River, their shoreline, made to aid ships in navigating to Philadelphia. It is oriented with north to the right and shows inlets, islands, flats, oyster beds, shoals, shears, and other navigational hazards. Rhumb lines extend from a simple compass rose near the lower left corner, while dotted lines show the major ship channels and routes. Depth is shown through soundings. The land remains bare, but the shoreline shows cities, towns, roads, rivers, creeks, and small illustrations of trees and anchors. A tide table sits below the title cartouche. The upper left corner contains a list of masters and pilots attesting to the accuracy of the chart. |
