Slippery Elm

A spreading specimen of Ulmus rubra dwarfs a small house in the background. This tree, with a trunk circumference of 16 feet 5 inches, was the subject of a campaign by the Federated Women's Club of River Falls, also known as the Tuesday Club, to "acquaint the community with the problems of Dutch elm disease." Unfortunately, the tree died from the disease. |
