Civil War Sign-Up Tree
A large, spreading bur oak is standing near the intersection of South Seventh and Washington Streets in front of a small restaurant. A van is parked in front of the restaurant building which has a sign on the roof advertising chicken and pizza. The landmark tree served as a mustering location for civil war volunteers. It was still standing in autumn, 2015. |
