Working at Home
Forest Middleton, right, addressing a package while sitting in a wicker armchair. His wife Leonore, is sitting on a straight back chair with her feet propped on a footstool, wrapping fabric edging on a card. A caption on the reverse of the print states: "Sun. finds us busy marking and doing up things for your export business." The writing most likely addresses Forest's father, William Middleton, who owned a leather goods business in Madison, Wisconsin. He also sold merchandise sent to him by Forest and Leonore from Japan. |
