When You Attack Men Who Maintain Pay Rolls
Poster with two cartoon panels. In the one on the left, a man wearing a hat and smoking a cigar is carrying a sack labeled "Agitator." He is demanding of another man, who is seated at a desk with a Pay Roll in front of him, that he "Come across." The man is replying: "I'm thru, my factory is closed — there is no use in giving my hard earned money to you." A cartoon blackbird is commenting: "When you attack a man who maintains a pay roll you hurt everyone." In the second panel on the right, a man is slumped in a chair at home, next to a table piled with due bills. His wife and child are standing and looking on. Above the man is a cloud, demonstrating the man imagining a factory with a "Closed Down" sign in front of it. Poster text at the bottom reads: "'When You Attack Men Who Maintain Pay Rolls, YOU HIT THE WAGE EARNER, KICK HIS WIFE AND CUFF HIS CHILDREN' — Elbert Hubbard." |
