Quarter-length profile portrait of Caroline Porter, wife of Lew Porter, the state supervising architect and secretary of the Wisconsin State Capitol Commission. From 1914 to 1920, Caroline Porter traveled by horse and carriage to lecture and present a lantern slideshow about her letter correspondence between the Wisconsin State Capitol artists and architects to groups of people in the Madison area, and by train to Milwaukee, Prairie du Chien, Portage and other southern Wisconsin towns. |
