Landing a Muskie
A Wisconsin Conservation Department float in the 1939 Chicago American Legion Parade. The float features two women who are standing in a canoe pretending to pull in a muskie with a fishing pole, which is attached by a fishing line to a large sculpture of a muskie at the front of the float. Two men, one with a paddle, are sitting in the back of the canoe. The sides of the float have been cut and painted to resemble water, and evergreen boughs simulate a shoreline. A sign on the side of the float reads: "Come to Wisconsin and Catch a Muskie." A banner hanging on a pole in the left foreground reads: "Welcome, Legionnaires." |
