Cantor in City
A boy is standing and posing wearing a tallit and a kashket, as well as a robe, tie, and wristwatch. Caption reads: "Cantor in City. A 13-year-old cantor will perform and say the prayers at the Friday evening and Saturday morning services at the Congregation Degel Israel Anshe Roumania temple at Eleventh and Vine Sts. He is Harry Schlomowitz, who came from Cromsk, near Warsaw, Poland, a little more than a year ago, and made his home in Chicago, where he has been studying voice culture under Prof. Max Zelekovitz. Harry was discovered as cantor when he was heard singing Polish songs in his home by members of the Chicago Jewish temple." |
