Mule-Drawn Bus
A streetcar pulled by two mules on a stretch of track. The driver and two children are on board. Text on reverse reads: "Madison Transportation. In 1885 Mr. Tom Shipway, who had been driving stage coach between Baraboo and Kilbourn, came to Madison and drove the mule cars from Jenifer and Brearly Sts. on the east side to University Ave. and Park St. on the west side. A third mule to help pull the car up King St. In the winter, straw on the floor and a coal stove to keep you warm. Madison Bus Co." |
