Sawmills — U-6 Power Unit
Subject: "Sawmills — U-6 Power Unit." Where Taken: "SW." Information with photograph reads: "U-6 Power Unit owned by Gaylord Container Corp., Walker, La. Division — use production line methods successfully. The customary sawing of trees into 5-ft. lengths, splitting, loading on trucks and cars by hand labor has been eliminated. Instead small tractors snake the logs out of the wood to a machine which cuts them into 5-ft. lengths and loads them on the trucks by a conveyor. At the railroad, the trucks are unloaded by a truck-mounted crane." |
