Toastmasters International
A man in the center is standing behind a sign for Toastmasters International with one hand raised up. Two other men are sitting and looking at pocket watches, and the man on the right is also holding a gavel. Caption reads: "When a member of the Toastmasters club is given five minutes in which to make a speech he knows that five minutes is all he will get. If he tries to go over that the gavel will fall and he'll have to shut up, even if he is in the middle of a sentence. To illustrate this we have Wayne Linderman, 2227 S. 106th St., acting as timekeeper; Harry A. Schopler, 150 E. Fairmount Av., as speaker, and Frank I. Spangler, 5271 N. Bay Ridge Av., as gavel wielder. The Wisconsin convention of the Toastmasters club will be held in Milwaukee Apr. 16. After the dinner at 3651 N. 27th St., six speakers will compete for the state title. The winner will go on to a regional contest and the winners of the regionals will compete at the annual convention in Los Angeles this fall. The speakers competing for the Wisconsin title will not know what their subjects are to be until 2 p.m. of the day of competition. |
