Red Cross Gray Ladies Volunteer at the Wisconsin Diagnositc Center
Red Cross Gray Lady Miss Ida Gangstad (right, 407 N. Henry Street), who taught library methods at the University of Wisconsin Extension Division from 1930 until her retirement in 1956, uses her skills to organize and catalogue a school library at the Wisconsin Diagnostic Center at 1552 University Avenue. Miss Muriel Laxson (left, Chicago), a graduate student who tutors children at the center, assists with the library. The center was under the supervision of the Mental Hygiene Division of the State Department of Public Welfare and connected with the University of Wisconsin Medical School as a training ground for medical students and future psychiatrists. |
