Mid-Century Modern Home Interior
Interior of a mid-century modern home located by Lake Wisconsin. View during daytime of a spacious living room with a large fireplace of cut rock. The wall to the right (obscured) is of board-and-batten construction. Raking light from the right illuminates a low wooden table with magazines and an earthenware ceramic pot holding yellow flowers, and towards the a corner of a large fringed floor rug on a stained and highly polished stone floor. The table on the left has a cribbage board game on it, and two arm chairs set across from each other. A single, Asian-styled lamp is hanging over the table. In the background on the left of the fireplace is a window, showing the roof edge of a lanai. Below the window is a magazine rack. The home was built in 1963 and designed by the architect, Paul A. Thomas III, who taught in the Architecture and City and Regional Planning program at Illinois Institute of Technology. Ken Harley was the original owner from 1963 to 1975. |
