Deutscher Press Club
An informal group portrait of members of the Milwaukee Deutscher Press Club and others, taken at Villa Henriette (mistakenly labeled "Villa Brumder"), the Pine Lake summer home of publisher George Brumder. Brumder, with beard and bow tie, is seated next to his wife Henriette, who is holding an umbrella, just right of center. Their daughter Amalie, holding her daughter Dorothea (Dodi), is to the right of George. George's son William C. Brumder is standing at extreme left; behind him is his sister Ida Brumder Merker. Another of George's sons, Herman O. Brumder, is in the back row, right, wearing a short billed German style student cap. Gustave Haas, managing editor of Brumder's newspaper, The Germania, is in front and to the right of Herman. Emil Von Steinitz, another editor of The Germania, is in the center, third row from the rear, wearing pince nez glasses on a string, and no necktie. The wide-eyed gentleman sitting up in the front row is identified as "Koenig," possibly Charles H. Koenig, president of the Mount Goram Mining and Milling Company. |
