According to Lucy Holt's great granddaughter Shan Holt in August 2018, "Holt Lumber Company built miles of railroad spurs into the woods, first to speed the white pines to the Oconto River, and later to haul hardwood out of the forests. When the area was cleared, the men would pull up the tracks and re-lay them elsewhere. Perhaps these were some of those spurs." |
