"Pine Barren" — Front View
Front view of the two-story Queen Anne style home where Lucy and W.A. Holt lived together starting in 1895. The address is 523 Main Street. "A front veranda with thin doubled Tuscan columns wraps around the east side of the house and shelters a double doorway. The steeply pitched gables of the roof are trimmed with large geometrically-designed bargeboards and the chimney stack pierces the roofline." (Source: Wisconsin Historical Society Architecture and History Inventory. Search on Ira Brooks Pendelton House or reference no. 23327.) The caption of a similar photograph reads "Pine Barren 1895." This is a humorous reference to the family business of timber and logging. A wooden sidewalk parallels the street. |
