A caption written by Herbert Paul Brumder (1885-1967), youngest child of George and Henriette Brumder, reads: "Picture of the tent in which the Brumder Family celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the wedding of the founders of the Brumder Family in America — George and Henriette Brandhorst Brumder, which took place in the Grace Lutheran Church in Milwaukee on July 16, 1864. The anniversary was celebrated as a picnic by 116 members of the Brumder Clan on Sunday afternoon July 19th 1964, on a very hot day. The larger trees along this private drive [later Brumder Drive] through "Villa Henrietta" running to the entrance on Highway K were planted by George Brumder in 1896. They are all Elm Trees (now subject to Dutch Elm Disease)." |
