Max Roach Quintet
Three musicians are on a stage; an audience is in the background. One man in the foreground is playing the drums, another man is playing a tenor saxophone, and one man is holding a trumpet. Caption reads: "Progressive jazz came to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus Monday night. The Max Roach quintet played before some 600 persons who jammed the lounge of the new union at 2200 E. Kenwood Blvd. Featured in the combo were Kenny Dorham, trumpet; Sonny Rollins, saxophone; George Morrow, bass; Billy Wallace, piano, and Roach, one of jazzdom's greatest, on drums. The new UWM chapter of the National Jazz fraternity sponsored the concert." |
