Sorghum Mill
A little girl posing with men and boys, probably members of the Cuff family, around a portable sorghum mill. One young man is holding a bundle of cane as another man feeds cane into the crusher. The mill is powered by two horses (at left) hitched to a long log mounted to the top of the mill. At right, two men and a dog are standing near a wooden barrel. A young boy in the background is holding a long handled tool, probably a pitch fork to clear the crushed cane from the mill. There are pumpkins scattered on the ground, and a field of corn shocks in the background. |
