Ojibwe Beaded Bandolier Bag

Small bandolier bag with minimal beadwork. Bag is constructed of black and blue wool. Pocket opens full width of bag and is lined with striped light brown cotton. Top section of bag has white geometric beadwork around a red wool stripe on top of black wool. Red wool pocket flap features organic shapes in blue wool appliqué outlined with white beads. Blue silk ribbon and white beads trim the scalloped edge. The main section of the bag is plain except for the lower quarter, where white beadwork outlines off-white and brown ribbon appliqué. White beads also outline the brown wool scalloped tabs attached to the bottom of the bag. The strap consists of two pieces of red wool backed with striped, light brown cotton; pieces are trimmed with either off-white or blue silk ribbon. Pieces end in two tabs which join at the top. Blue floral appliqué designs outlined with white beads decorate the strap. |
