Below the High Bridge After the Flood
Text on front reads: "Below the High Bridge After the Flood. Wausau, Wisconsin." Railroad cars were swept away when dams at Brokaw and Merrill failed on the Wisconsin River, sending a wave of water through Wausau. Many bridges were damaged. Many people can be seen observing the piles of timbers, rocks, rail cars and pools of water. On the left is a building with "Grocery Company" and a bull painted on it. In the background is the old, red brick, Victorian style City Hall with turrets and a clock tower. Built in 1885, it was demolished in 1966. |
