![Old Stockbridge Indian Cemetery, 1906 View of a cemetery with several tombstones, one of which appears broken and resting against its base. A building is in the background. Caption reads:
"The Old Stockbridge Indian cemetery is on Lot 89, is no longer used, is surrounded by a barb wire fence with no entrance gate. It is in a very neglected condition, with many tomb stones fallen down or leaning over, some broken, others cracked and all overgrown with moss, making the inscriptions often illegible. Was made use of as a cow pasture by the present owner for some time, but owing to remonstrance by the Indians, is no longer put to that use.
The farm house in the distance is that of a Stockbridge Indian. The tombstone in the foreground is that of Austine Quinney, the old chirf [sp], who signed the Articles of Agreement at Vernon, New York, in 1823 (see Wis. Hist. Colls., XV p. 8).
