Louis Allis
Caricature of industrialist Louis H. Allis, son of Edward P. Allis. Louis founded the Mechanical Appliance Company in 1901, which manufactured DC motors for the horseless carriage industry. He changed the company name in 1922 to the Louis Allis Company and shifted to producing AC motors. He is depicted standing and holding his company building and towering over a neighborhood, with factory smokestacks in the background. Behind him a sign reads: "Central Improvement Company, West Allis." A cartoon bubble in the shape of a cloud depicts a man playing golf. |
