Slave Cabin — Walnut Grove

View towards side of slave log cabin which has a small window. Steps are on the end of the building on the left. An exterior stone chimney is on the end of the cabin on the right and rises above the peaked roof which is shingled. Handwritten on back: "Exterior of Slave Cabin, west side, note hand made shingles and wooden pegs to fasten window and frame. Also daubing between logs. This daubing is made of a mixture of lime, sand and white oak clay, according to an old formula." |
