Harriet Douglas Whetten

Harriet Douglas Whetten (b.1822). Whetten was a volunteer nurse during the Civil War. She served on hospital ships out of New York and Philadelphia from 1862 to 1865, and later as nurses' superintendent at the Carver Hospital in Washington, D.C.

Lieutenant A.T. Lamson of Madison and Lieutenant E.E. Sill as they appeared when they reached the Union lines after escaping from Confederate prison at Columbia, South Carolina in either 1864 or 1865.
