This image is part of the Herbert Jacobs collection, which includes the papers of Jacobs, a journalism educator and veteran reporter for the Madison, Wisconsin "Capital Times," consisting of recollections of editor William T. Evjue, photographs, and "A Column Sampler," an unpublished manuscript. The sampler is a compilation of the best of Jacobs' by-lined question-answer column "Try and Stump Me," which appeared in the Times from 1948 to 1962. The photographs relate to various stories which he covered, 1955-1962. Also present is a biographical sketch by Jacobs of his brother-in-law, author Glenway Wescott. The summary above describes the processed portion of the collection, 1955-1975; there are unprocessed additions, 1930-1989, including papers of Jacobs and of his wife Katherine, a recorded interview with Glenway Wescott, and a few items on Frank Lloyd Wright. The image appeared in the August section of the 1991 Wisconsin Historical Calendar. Cropped. |
