Lombardy Poplars
A rural lane lined with Lombardy poplars runs between two fenced fields. Two men are standing in the lane looking towards the camera. A church and many other buildings can be seen in the distance. Lombardy poplars were a new fast-growing windbreak in the 1870's. They also gave an elegant "European" look to the land and emphasized long perspectives. |
