Group portrait of German painters relaxing in the studio of the American Panorama Company, during a break from painting the Jerusalem cyclorama depicting the crucifixion of Christ. Artists and their specialties include, at the left end of the table, Bernhard (Wilhelm?) Schroeder (Schroeter) wearing a hat (landscapes), and behind the table from the left, Richard Lorenz (animals), Johannes Schulz (figures), Friedrich Wilhelm Heine (Supervisor and master of composition), Bernhard Schneider (landscapes), Irma (Amy?) Boos, and August Lohr in profile (Supervisor and designer of landscape settings). Seated in front of the table are Franz Bilberstein (landscapes), Franz Rohrbeck (figures, especially Confederate), Karl (Carl) Frosch (Frosh), Thaddeus Zukotynski (Zuchatinsky, Chuchodinski) (figures), George Peter (animals), and Herman Michalowski (figures). |

The Jerusalem panorama was the seventh of 13 or 14 Jerusalem panoramas painted between 1884 and 1903. It was painted by a group of German painters known as the American Panorama Company, led by William Wehner. |
