Painting
Civil War Cannon

Oil on linen study of a Civil War cannon with a soldier in the background and the sketched outline of another soldier in firing position. Although unsigned, the study was probably done by F.W. Heine or Franz Rohrbeck, two of a group of Milwaukee panorama painters active during the 1880s. Previously thought to be a study for a Gettysburg cyclorama, the study is now thought to depict either the Atlanta or Missionary Ridge battles. |
