This is likely the Iver B. Lund found on the 1870 Census for Blue Mounds. He was listed as being age 75, born in Norway, a tailor. His wife was listed as Daardi (a variation of Dorthe), age 75, born in Norway. In the 1880 Census, Blue Mounds, Iver Benson, age 75, born Norway, farmer, is listed as having "lost one leg"; wife Kari (probably Daardi misheard by the census taker), age 70, born Norway. It is likely that they are the Iver Berntsen Lund and Daardi Nilsdatter who immigrated from Nord-Aurdal, Oppland, Norway in 1849 on the ship Lyna, which sailed from Drammen on 8 June and arrived in New York on 14 August. (Naeseth's "Norwegian Immigrants to the United States" Vol. 4) Iver Lund (b. 06 Jan 1805 d. 14 Sep 1880) is buried in the East Blue Mounds Cemetery. Daardi's death date and burial place are unknown. |
