The Chalk Cliffs on the English Coast
![The Chalk Cliffs on the English Coast At the beginning of his journey to America, Hölzlhuber passed through the English Channel and viewed the cliffs at Dover. "We passed Beachy Head, as this part of the chalk rock of the English coast is called, on May 7, 1856. The so called chalk rocks at the southern shore of England reach from far behind Dover, and form a high steep wall along the Canal al Manche [English Channel]. Because of the steady wind blowing along the English Coast many windmills are put up." Five windmills on the clifftops and four other ships are featured in the image.
