Text on back reads: "Station on 'Underground Railroad' (Tudieman house), Arena, Wis. Photo by Lillian Ettinger, Rt. 2., Edgerton, Wis., 1953. Entered in 4th Wisconsin Today competition, 1953." The house pictured was built after the abolition of slavery in the United States, so this building could not have been a part of the Underground Railroad. It is possible that a previous house on the property was, but the source of this claim is unclear. |
