Historic site marker commemorating the first permanent home in Baraboo. The inscription reads, "On this site in 1840, the first permanent home in Baraboo was erected by Abraham Wood who, with Wallace Rowan, built nearby in 1840 the first sawmill and dam on the Baraboo River. Placed by the Sauk County Historical Society June 14, 1926." The marker stands in Ochsner Park. |
