Absalom A. Townsend — "Born in New Jersey, Dec. 7, 1810. Settled near Gratiot's Grove, Wis., May 18, 1827; served in the Black Hawk war; filled various county offices, and in 1855 was a member of the legislature. Died at Shallsburg, April 24, 1888."
