Proxmire Campaigns for Reelection

Elected to the Senate in a special election in September 1957, to fill the unexpired term of Senator Joe McCarthy, William Proxmire was forced to begin a campaign for re-election almost immediately as his term was scheduled to expire in one year. This snapshot shows him already working the phones in Watertown months before the November 1958 election. |
