Samuel A. Harper
Attorney Samuel A. Harper, a partner with Robert M. La Follette, Sr., first in the Madison law firm, La Follette, Siebecker & Harper, and later, La Follette, Harper, Roe, & Zimmerman. In addition to his legal work, Harper was highly regarded as a political organizer, and Harper managed La Follette's unsuccessful gubernatorial campaigns until his death in 1898. In his autobiography, La Follette wrote of Harper "no other man has ever been so completely a part of my life." This snapshot was probably taken behind the Harper family home at 610 Langdon Street. |
