View is probably from the top of the castle-like mansion on Brookside, the suburban home and farm of John H. Bass, Civil War veteran (30th IN Inf), prominent businessman and financier. Born 9 Nov 1835 in Salem KY, married 30 Oct 1865 to Laura Lightfoot of Covington KY, died at Brookside 17 Dec 1922 (age 87). The mansion is now the site of the University of St. Francis Library. |
